There is a duty as a landlord to ensure that your buildings are safe and that will likely include asbestos. We suggest that all landlords and building manager-type roles are trained in asbestos awareness and procedures for safety.
No – this course is about awareness and avoidance of danger. You should not attempt to remove asbestos without expert guidance and you may need a specially licensed operator. Moving asbestos could present a significant risk to your health and that of others.
Yes. Once you have successfully met the pass requirements and completed the course, you can download your personalised certificate. If unsuccessful, you can re-take the course as often as you like.
Yes, there is no reason why you cannot take either this course or the Asbestos Awareness A course for building trades. If you look after several properties with different environments, for example, this may even be a better option for you. However, there is no need to take both courses.

This module will introduce you to the content of the course and online training. You will then learn about who should be aware of asbestos. At the end of the module, you will be given an example of the kind of test you will take during your training.
This module is designed to give you a brief background on asbestos and why it was used so much in the building and other industries. We will then move on to the potential health issues surrounding it and the people who could be at risk.
The purpose of this module is to explore the materials you could encounter which may contain asbestos. The module also looks at the effect of age on these materials and how likely they are to release deadly fibres. Finally, the module shows you how your new understanding for asbestos can be used to create risk assessments and management for your duty to manage requirements.
Should the worst happen, and you find yourself needing to deal with asbestos, you will need to be able to manage the situation properly for the safety of yourself and others. This module will guide you through a step by step process of dealing with contamination.
When it comes to asbestos, the law is very clear and the penalties for making mistakes can be costly and may even result in imprisonment in some cases. As a landlord, multiple laws may apply to your buildings and this module will give you an overview of the things you need to consider in relation to legislation regarding asbestos and the need to ensure your property is fit for habitation.
The final assessment is where we test your Asbestos Awareness knowledge. All the answers are contained within the course.
Once you have passed your assessment, you will be able to download your certificate. The pass rate is 70% but don't worry if you do not pass the first time, as you can re-take the test as many times as you need to.
